“ Sanjo is a lovely new addition to New West! We order the dinner set: Teishoku San between the two of us and it was a fantastic value. Really tasty sushi and a great variety! The chicken kaarage was especially crispy and juicy. Would recommend and place high on my list of Japanese in new west! ”
“ The waitress was super sweet and attentive. Love the snack (homemade fried seaweed) that the restaurant provided while we were waiting for the food and they also gave us dried mango at the end as a tiny gesture of dessert . Food was good. Reasonable price. ”
“ This place is simply spectacular! They start by getting all the basics down correctly, the rice is soft, the seaweed isn’t chewy, and the fish is fresh and high quality. This is not a given anymore in Vancouver’s sushi scene. But the positives just builds from there! I pretty much get a spicy tuna cone everywhere I go, and I can say with confidence that this is one of the best ones I’ve ever had. I always hate when you order spicy tuna and it’s sweet instead of spicy and this place does it right and fills it with enough protein. I also got the tuna and salmon belly aburi nigiri which were fantastic, especially the salmon one. Nothing was fishy which shows the quality of the seafood being served. For the main rolls I got the Philadelphia roll Fantastic roll, New west roll, snowy mountain. I really like that these rolls went against the latest Vancouver trend of drenching everything in 3 types of sauces, and actually served sushi that you can taste every ingredient. I liked the new west roll and the Philadelphia roll the most, but everything was honestly great. The service and cleanliness of the restaurant is also impeccable. The severs were very nice, funny, and caring and on top of everything. The sushi chefs were also very nice and genuinely cared about if we enjoyed the food. Ordering is also made easy since they have pictures of every item so you don’t get any surprises which makes the whole process easier. The sushi place I used to go to in burnaby served me near frozen temperature rice, and I also got tired of eating sushi soaking in sauces at the places downtown. This place is a saving grace and I’m gonna be coming here moving forward. They also have good combinations / lunch specials If you’re dining alone or want to try something new they have specials of the week. Overall great location, prices, food, staff, you really can’t ask for more. Can’t wait to be back next time I’m in town! ”
“ A Hidden Gem That Hits the Right Notes If sushi were a symphony, Sanjo Sushi would be playing a perfect harmony of taste, value, and hospitality. The Teishoku Jo and California Roll? Absolute headliners—generous portions, fresh ingredients, and a balance of flavors that sing on the palate. Service? Warm and welcoming, like an encore you didn’t know you needed. The cozy atmosphere makes it feel like you’ve stumbled upon a well-kept secret—except the secret is out. For those who crave great sushi without breaking the bank, Sanjo delivers a performance worth repeating. ”
“ Our favourite sushi place in New West! We like to dine-in since they have really pretty presentation. This time we ordered the Teishoku Mori set dinner. The meal came with mushroom karage, which had three different types of mushrooms. They were super crispy and had lots of flavour. Mori is the vegetarian set dinner, yet there are other set dinner options that include meat and seafood too. These set dinners are available during certain hours (I think 5-8pm). My husband ordered the Chirashi Don. He's ordered it many times before and it's always loaded with tons of seafood. Hope you'll go show this New West hidden gem some love :) ”
“ Good things come from this small restaurant in New Westminster. The ambience is family friendly and the staff are very welcoming. The place is clean and accessible by transit. Their menu consists of the usual Japanese sushi and bento but theirs come with a twist and a somewhat personalized take on what they offer in the menu. If you are a party of more than 5, make sure you call for a reservation. We had a dine-in experience for lunch and their food is reasonably priced with generous servings. Everything we ordered tasted so good and you can really taste the difference in all the food that we ordered; unlike other places that some food menu tastes almost the same. ”
“ First time at this sushi place and it was great. Very friendly service and the food was so tasty. My favourite was the chicken udon and my husband got the chicken teriyaki. We got salmon and cream cheese, dynamite and California rolls. All in all, will come back!! ”
“ The sushi was not only made fresh but the ingredients and variety was a treat. First visit but it was memorable. The rolls were unique and an event for the tastebuds. 5 stars isn’t enough for the chefs creativity. Definitely Order the special whatever it is ”
